Challenge

An automotive logistics provider serving OEM and Tier I assembly plants across Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, and Tennessee faced a critical decision: develop an EDI application in-house or purchase a proven solution. The company needed to meet strict Honda EDI compliance standards and integrate seamlessly with their internal WMS and inventory systems. In-house development would require 6-9 months, a complex .NET migration plan, and the costs of obtaining Honda certification for a hybrid solution. The company also needed to reduce VAN costs, minimize IT involvement in daily EDI activities, and automate custom programming required for each new customer's unique EDI requirements.

Solution

The logistics provider implemented ShopVue EDI, specifically the iCARaS component of the eCommerce platform. ShopVue is Honda Blue Book certified and delivers all EDI data management, reporting, labeling, scanning, and shipping documents required by Honda's stringent automotive standards. The cloud-based solution integrates with the company's existing WMS and inventory systems without requiring custom development for each customer. ShopVue EDI standardizes demand and shipping schedules, automatically sends ASNs on behalf of customers, and guarantees trading partner compliance for both new and existing customers through a user-friendly, intuitive interface.
