"Ponderosa Announces iPad Support: Cutting-Edge, Cost-effective Business Solution for LBM Executives On the Go"

July 12, 2011 — Ponderosa Software today announced complete ‘anywhere, anytime’ access to and usability of the Ponderosa Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software on Apple Computer’s popular iPad tablet PC.

Frank Motta, Managing Director at Ponderosa said, “While the majority of iPad users are playing games, updating their Facebook accounts, and watching videos, the devices are being increasingly taken up by business users. Many of our customers are making iPads available to their employees as a way of increasing productivity via remote access to their ERP software.”

The release of the Ponderosa iPad software follows last year’s announcement of Ponderosa compatibility on the Apple iPhone.

“Due primarily to the iPhones’ small display, Ponderosa functionality on the iPhone was relatively limited,” Motta said. “The iPad’s larger diagonal display area of 9.7 inches overcomes the smart phone’s usability limitations to provide full, unrestricted software access, as if they were accessing Ponderosa at their desks.”

“Our goal is to be the leading provider of technology solutions to the market and to constantly develop tools that help our customers do their jobs more efficiently and profitably. The support for the iPad is another example of this commitment to innovation,” Motta added.

Full Ponderosa Functionality Along with Cost and Convenience Benefits

The iPad ‘s size and weight (approximately 9.5 x 7.5 inches and 1.5 lbs.) falls between those of contemporary smartphones and laptop computers. In addition, at about half the price and weight of a comparably equipped laptop computer, the iPad offers a price competitive and more convenient alternative to doing business on the road.

The iPad— runs the same operating system as Apple’s popular iPhone, and can run its own applications as well as iPhone applications. Like iPhone, the iPad is controlled by a multitouch display—a departure from most previous tablet computers, which used a pressure-triggered stylus—as well as a virtual onscreen keyboard in lieu of a physical keyboard.

Since its release in April 2010, more than 15 million iPad’s have been sold worldwide, part of a trend towards mobile-office applications among businesses.
